Center for Service and Community Engagement

Academic Service-Learning

  • Academic Service-Learning connects the concepts in the classroom to service experiences in the community. Service-learning helps prepare you for a lifetime of civic engagement and leadership. In addition, service-learning is an important learning tool that allows you to apply the concepts, theories and other material covered in class. The community becomes a text for the class and is as critical to “read” as other textbooks.

Students, get started with your service.

    Service-Learning Stories

Students, faculty members and community partners are learning and growing together in a variety of ways through service-learning. Meet Aram Dagavarian, a former service-learning student who has stayed engaged in the community, now as a volunteer coordinator for a community partner.

If you’d like to share your service-learning story, please email Amy Bergstrom, graduate assistant for service-learning.
