Jumpstart

  • Working toward the day every child in America enters kindergarten¬†prepared to succeed, Jumpstart is a national early education organization that recruits and trains college students and community Corps members to serve preschool children in low-income neighborhoods. Our proven curriculum helps children develop the language and literacy skills they need to be ready for kindergarten, setting them on a path to close the achievement gap.¬†

At Seattle University, we have 40 students each year who work with our 8 program partners in Central and South Seattle Head Start and ECEAP programs. Students commit to a year-long, 300-hour AmeriCorps term of service working 8-10 hours a week.

To get involved, visit the Jumpstart website at www.jstart.org or fill out the application at www.jstart.org/apply.
