Center for Service and Community Engagement

"When the heart is touched by direct experience, the mind may be challenged to change. Personal involvement with the innocent suffering, with the injustice others suffer, is the catalyst for solidarity, which then gives rise to intellectual inquiry."

- Peter-Hans Kolvenbach, S.J.

Center Programs

The Center for Service and Community Engagement offers students the opportunity to engage in service within and outside the classroom. For example, students can serve consistently at local organizations, participate in intensive week-long service immersions during a vacation, and engage in service through dozens of student-led clubs and organizations.

Students interested in expanding their leadership capabilities may apply to the Student Leaders for the Common Good Program. Students wanting to explore service through coursework can choose from one of the dozens of service-learning courses that the Center supports.

All CSCE activities are alcohol and drug free programs. All events are available to all students without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, marital status, sexual or political orientation, or veteran status. Students requiring special accommodations should contact Disabilities Services at Loyola 100, 206.296.5740.
