The Center for Service and Community Engagement seeks to help students grow into ethical and effective leaders in the community through our co-curricular service and leadership programs. Recognizing the developmental process of leadership formation, CSCE involves students in a variety of intentionally designed projects and programs to help them become more effective at leading in the community.

CSCE Programs Include:

Service Projects
One-time student-led service projects which provide students the opportunity to serve and volunteer together in the community.

Immersion Trips
Four, week-long student-led regional immersion trips exploring marginalized and underserved communities in and around Seattle; immigration and farmworkers’ rights; Pacific Northwest Indian culture; and environmental sustainability and justice.

Service-Learning
Academic service-learning is the connection of concepts in the classroom to service experiences in the community.

Mentoring & Tutoring
Once a week throughout the academic year, tutors and mentors work one-on-one and in group settings with pre-school-, elementary-, and high-school-aged youth in the local community.

Student Leadership
Through a year-long service leadership formation program,  students work in conjunction with CSCE staff to coordinate service programs, develop community partnerships, collaborate with campus partners, and lead their peers in service and reflection experiences. Additionally, the Center offers two fellowship opportunities of varying levels of an integrated experience in direct service, community leadership, reflection, and ongoing professional development.
