Center for Service and Community Engagement

"When the heart is touched by direct experience, the mind may be challenged to change. Personal involvement with the innocent suffering, with the injustice others suffer, is the catalyst for solidarity, which then gives rise to intellectual inquiry."

- Peter-Hans Kolvenbach, S.J.

For Faculty

Seattle University encourages faculty to use their teaching and research to address local, national and global social issues. The Center for Service and Community Engagement offers assistance to Seattle University faculty who are interested in fostering positive social change through service-learning courses and/or community-based research projects.

Our Faculty Guide to Service-Learning will help you get started in developing your service-learning course.
