    What is your role?

Sally oversees Seattle University Youth Initiative efforts in our K-12 Partner Schools and serves as the main University liaison to SU faculty, staff, students, and alumni interested in engaging in school-based projects and programming.

What is your favorite part about working at the CSCE?

I am passionate about issues of education equity and deeply committed to closing the opportunity gap for neighborhood youth.  I love that on a given day my job allows me to go from meeting with school district officials, to teaching college students, to talking to 5th graders about books.  Our work at the CSCE is exciting, challenging, and inspiring. We are honored to put Seattle University’s mission into action as we work in partnership with the local community.  Our staff is talented and extremely hard working.  We also laugh a lot!

What is your professional and educational background?

Sally has worked at Seattle U since 2001, first as director of the Children's Literacy Project and now as CSCE Associate Director. Prior to SU, she spent seven years working with low-income youth living in public housing communities. Sally holds a K-12 teaching certificate from the University of Washington and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Seattle University.

What is something people would be surprised to know about you?

One of my UCSB undergraduate electives was titled “Psychic Travelling.” Go Gauchos!  I just attended my last SPS Open House as a parent: three sons, thirteen years each counting kindergarten to senior year. You do the math!
