Welcome Week for New Freshmen Commuters!
Welcome new freshmen commuter students from the Commuter Student Services office! We are delighted you will be attending Seattle University and look forward to seeing you during Welcome Week. You will receive a detailed welcome week schedule from New Student and Family Programs when you arrive on campus for the fall welcome; these events add to the experience of your summer orientation and you will find them great for meeting other students and orientating yourself to Seattle University.
The New Student and Family Programs office can be reached at 296-2525 if you have questions about the Welcome Week schedule. Check out the on-line guide http://www.seattleu.edu/newstudent/guide to familiarize you with what will be happening that week. Here is some helpful summary information about the week for you.
Saturday, September 20, Welcome week begins. All new freshmen students, whether they live on or off campus will participate in this week’s events. Plan to check-in and pick up your orientation packet between noon-3pm in Student Center 160 on this Saturday and join us for the President’s welcome to students and families at 3pm. Students should plan to stay on campus through the evening.
Monday, September 22, in the Lynn Collegium (1st flr Lynn building on the north end of campus):
1-4pm: The Lynn Collegium welcomes you for some informal “hang-out” time during break times from your other welcome week activities. Come and go as you want. Student staff will be there to greet you. You will be able to enroll in the Collegium during this time.
4-5pm: Gather as the commuter community in the Lynn Collegium while the residential students are gathering in their residence hall communities. Meet staff, get to know each other, share what you’d like to see the Lynn Collegium be for you this year!
5pm: Commuter freshmen welcome dinner. Join us for a complimentary dinner, games and great raffle prizes. Then you can head out to the Will Keim presentation at 6:30; always a popular event with new students.
Tuesday, September 23, 11am-1pm: You will have another opportunity for early enrollment in the Lynn Collegium and are welcome to relax in the space during this time. The Lynn Collegium is located on the first floor of the Lynn building on the north end of campus. Simply go to the space during the time listed above and a staff member will assist you. If you are not able to enroll that day you may enroll in the space beginning the first day of school, September 24, during open hours: Mon.-Thurs. 7am-6pm, Fridays 7am-4pm.
