The Commons: A gathering place for Seattle University faculty and staff

At the first of four on-campus "Summer in Seattle" orientation sessions, President Stephen Sundborg, S.J., encouraged members of SU's incoming class of 2016 to avail themselves of all the university and city have to offer. Here's what he said:

Dan Jørgensen, a member of the European Parliament since 2004, is teaching "Power and Persuasion in Environmental Policy" during the summer quarter at Seattle University. Jørgensen, vice-chairman of the Committee of the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety, will provide insight into the environmental policy and politics in Demark and the European Union (EU) as well as globally. Portia McGee, a member of the 2008 USA Olympic team, is the new head coach of women's crew. A former US Rowing Female Athlete of the Year, McGee is a two-time gold medalist and two-time silver medalist at the NCAA National Championships while at Brown University. Read more about McGee.
