
This week marks the first anniversary of last year’s devastating earthquake in Haiti. As the country continues to rebuild and contend with an outbreak of cholera, SU faculty and students are lending a hand. Phil Thompson, associate professor of civil and environmental engineering, has been leading an effort to construct water treatment systems for medical centers in Haiti. Already, the team has completed four systems. This week, the fifth treatment system, pictured here with the students who helped build it, will be shipped.
