Men's Basketball at KeyArena
The Seattle U men's basketball team opens the 2012-13 season with an exhibition game against Evergreen State Wednesday, Nov. 7, beginning at 7 p.m. at KeyArena. After that tune-up, the Redhawks begin playing for real, hosting Montana State in the annual Elgin Baylor Classic Sunday, Nov. 11, starting at 6 p.m. The game against Montana State will be broadcast by ROOT SPORTS, so come out and show the region that Seattle U has the loudest and most passionate college basketball fans around. Faculty and staff receive two free tickets to all home basketball games, which are available starting 90 minutes before tip-off at a special window on the east side of KeyArena. For more information about faculty/staff tickets at KeyArena, including the opportunity to purchase additional tickets at a discounted price, contact the Seattle U Athletics Ticket Office at (206) 398-GOSU (4678).
Volleyball at Connolly Center
The Seattle University volleyball team is back at the Connolly Center for the final two home matches of the 2012 season. First, the Redhawks face the UT Arlington Mavericks Thursday, Nov. 8, beginning at 7 p.m. Seattle U is contending with UT Arlington for a spot in the WAC Tournament, so a victory over the Mavericks is crucial for the Redhawks' postseason chances. Saturday, Nov. 10, starting at 7 p.m., Seattle U will host Louisiana Tech. On that night, seniors Kelly Biette, Kaytlyn Dill and Karina Miastkowska will be recognized in Senior Night ceremonies as they play the final home match of their collegiate careers. Seattle U faculty and staff receive free admission to all home volleyball matches, so take these final opportunities to cheer on the Redhawks as they look to qualify for the WAC Tournament.
Women's Basketball vs. Pacific
After two exciting victories in exhibition games last week, the Seattle University women's basketball team opens the 2012-13 regular season against the Pacific Tigers Friday, Nov. 9, beginning at 7 p.m. at the Connolly Center. The Redhawks won 20 games last season and have used the combination of tough defense and timely offense to be successful so far this year. As always, faculty and staff members receive free admission to all home Seattle U women's basketball games, so come out and cheer on the Redhawks in their pursuit of a WAC title and another postseason berth.
Cross Country at NCAA West Regional
The Seattle University cross country team does not have to travel far for the university's first NCAA Division I regional competition of 2012-13, as the 2012 NCAA Cross Country West Regional will take place at Jefferson Park Golf Course Friday, Nov. 9. The women's six-kilometer race will begin at noon, and the Seattle U women look to post personal bests throughout the team. The men's 10-kilometer race is scheduled to begin at 1:15 p.m. Erik Barkhaus is coming off a WAC Championships and is aiming towards a high finish to qualify for the NCAA Championships in Kentucky, while the team is coming off a strong third-place finish at the conference meet and hopes to keep that momentum going. Admission is free for everyone, so cheer on your fellow Redhawks as they run with some of the top cross country programs in the west.
Swimming vs. Simon Fraser
The Seattle University swim teams host their first official home meet of the 2012-13 season when long-time rival Simon Fraser makes the trip south to face the Redhawks beginning at 1 p.m. at the Connolly Center Pool. Seattle U got off to a strong start in two meets in October and have been training over the past few weeks in anticipation of its first home meet. Simon Fraser has always been a strong opponent, and Saturday's meet should be no exception. Admission is free for all spectators, but seating is limited, so come early and cheer on your favorite swimmers as they continue to post fast times.
