Teaching English and Facilitating Cross-cultural Communication
Students in the Master’s Program in Teaching English to Speakers of other Languages (TESOL) learn in a multilingual and multicultural environment to become professionals who deliver quality instruction for teaching adults in a variety of settings. TESOL graduates are committed to leadership, service, social justice, and individual language rights. English is the lingua franca of the world, taught to millions every day, including the United States, where over 10 percent are foreign born; TESOL professionals are in high demand — especially those with master’s degrees.

Learn how you can impact the lives of people of all ages with limited English proficiency living around the world. SU's TESOL graduate program is a six-quarter program that prepares students to teach English and foreign languages to adults in the United States and adults and youth overseas. Graduates of the program work in Adult Education Programs with refugees and immigrants, at Community Colleges, with English Language Programs in non-English speaking countries, at non-profit organizations, in schools, and in many more arenas to help improve daily communication skills, minimize language barriers and improve life skills. Join program director Jian Yang, current students and graduates of the program as they share details of this transformative program. Light refreshments will be served.
