Graduate Assistantships
Graduate assistantships offer degree-related experience and financial support for graduate students enrolled in the SDA master's program. These experiences are often an important factor when competing for positions after graduation. In order to be eligible for an assistantship, students must be admitted to Graduate School, enroll for a minimum of six credits per quarter during the time of their assistantship and make satisfactory progress toward their master's degree during their assistantship.
Compensation for Graduate Assistants for 2011-12 is $14,250 for an average of twenty hours per week. It may increase slighly for 2012-13. Graduate Assistants are typically employed from approximately September 1 to approximately June 10. Admission into the graduate program does not guarantee a graduate assistantship. Students should apply to the SDA master’s program at the same time they apply for a graduate assistantship to guarantee they will receive full consideration.
The deadline for both the Graduate Assistant applications and the SDA program applications for 2012-13 is January 15, 2012. Admitted applicants will be invited to SDA Preview Days to be held at Seattle University.
The 2012 Preview Days for the 2012-2013 academic year will be held on two different dates.
Group 1: February 27 through 28, 2012
Group 2: March 1 through 2, 2012
