Seattle University College of Education partners with school districts and the ESDs to help teachers earn endorsements in high-need areas. Our innovative strategy blends district needs with endorsement requirements while still maintaining high quality instructional practices and achieving solid results. Our approach brings the right content to the right teachers.
With School Districts we:
- Work with district representatives to determine critical endorsement needs
- Create a partnership to make joint decisions about content, delivery, location and timelines
- Provide a strategy for districts to increase high-need endorsements held by their own teachers
For Teachers we:
- Make learning convenient, relevant, and affordable!
- Provide support by offering tutoring, test preparation, and insuring that there is a "lead teacher" that is available to provide additional instruction as needed
The Endorsement Academies that we offer include:
What make our Endorsement Academy unique is that the courses:
- Include all required competencies
- Have subject matter content that is enhanced by working with representatives from the school districts to address customizations that are of most concern to the specific partner school district
- Incorporate books used by teachers/students in the district rather than traditional college text books
- Are offered at a location that is convenient for district teachers: their own school district
- Are taught by both university faculty and school district master teachers
- Stress content while modeling pedagogy
- Have flexible delivery timelines: courses can be completed in as little as 9 months or can be offered over as long as two years
- Can begin at any time: optimal course completion would be prior to the district hiring schedule
- Tie instruction into what is happening in K-12 classrooms
- Are priced at less than half of a traditional college course
Delivery Options:
Endorsement Academy Courses have historically been offered in a classroom setting. We are currently developing a hybrid instructional option.
