After having served the Washington higher education
community for more than 27 years, Dr. Tana L. Hasart retired as president of
Pierce College Puyallup in June of 2010.
During her tenure she was instrumental in developing community and
technical college policy for the Running Start Program, participated as a
member of Pierce County’s Technical College transition group, and performed as
an advocate and leader for the community and technical college system’s common
course numbering project. Tana also
served as Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs at the
University of Washington, Bothell. She currently
holds faculty status at Oregon State University, Old Dominion University, and
Seattle University.
Following retirement Tana continues to work with
communities and educational institutions, most notably in the areas of
strategic planning, project management, curriculum development, and
communications. She enjoys being a citizen
activist! Recently she facilitated the
work of the Puyallup School District’s Vision 2020 effort, updating and
strengthening the District’s strategic plan. Tana is an evaluator for the Northwest Commission on Colleges and
Universities, having chaired accreditation teams for more than 19 years. Her area of scholarship is organization
development and change.
