Flexible Program for the Working Professional

DanWeb1We know you are a hardworking professional with work and family commitments. We also know that life can throw you curve balls. That's why our program is flexible with classes offered in the evenings and weekends with the option to take up to six years to complete your degree.

Programs of Study

The program consists of a core curriculum in leadership studies, courses in a professional concentration, intentional internships and independent studies all organized to meet the needs of our students. We believe this individualized approach to learning contributes to the program's high completion rate (85% of our EDLR students complete the program).

Leadership Requirements: 33 credits
Research Requirements: 27 to 30 credits
Concentration Requirements: 27 to 36 credits depending on declared concentration

Professional Concentrations

SKWeb1Clearly articulated professional areas of leadership study in education and beyond that allow partnerships between faculty initially within the College of Education and eventually within other colleges at Seattle University.

 
General - concentrations available for individuals from a wide variety of professional fields to include healthcare, business, non-profit and public administration. 

Adult, Post-Secondary and Higher Education
- for current or future higher education leaders who would gain additional expertise in education finance and law, instructional leadership, adult learning and student development.

Superintendent - for individuals in school or school district leadership positions who wish to advance their career; meets Washington State requirements for superintendent certification.

Principal - for aspiring school leaders who wish to move into leadership roles; meets Washington State requirements for principal certification.

Program Administrators - for instructional leaders preparing for district-level positions in curriculum, special education, professional development and other areas.
