Programs in EDAD
The Educational Administration programs offer four specializations to meet the needs of leaders in K-12 and post-secondary schools and other organizations: Superintendent Certification, Principal Certification for public, independent and Catholic school educators, Program Administrator certification; and General Administration.
Master's Degree Program Specializations
Students can choose to pursue a Master of Arts (M.A.) or a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Educational Administration. Seattle University offers three specializations at the master's level:
The Principal Program prepares students to be head of school for public and private K-12. Principal certification requires K-12 certification.
Program Administration focuses on developing programs in curriculum and instruction, special education, and other areas, including central office level leadership.
General Administration develops administrators for post-secondary and other organizations other than K-12.
Washington State certification for both principals and program administrators is available as part of the master's degrees or as post-master's programs.
Post-Master's Principal and Program Administrator Certificate
The post-master's principal or program administrator certificate program is designed for individuals with graduate degrees in education. A program of study will be developed for each person admitted to the program, designing the number of credits needed for certification.
Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Administration (Ed.S.)
Students with a master's degree can tailor their own programs for this post-master's degree of 45 credits. Students can complete the coursework needed to qualify for state certification as a principal or program administrator as part of this degree program.
