Certification Program Description

The Executive Leadership Superintendent Program is a new post-master's certificate program designed for experienced professionals featuring:

  • A research-based, coherent and relevant curriculum, with an emphasis on adaptive leadership.

  • 11-month program of study, including an intensive internship

  • Cohort group structure that supports learning and professional relationships

  • Weekend course schedules designed for working professionals

  • Leadership coaching support for graduates of the program

Values Based

The program and curriculum are anchored to the vision, mission and values of Seattle University and the College of Education: preparing ethical and reflective professionals for quality service in diverse communities.

There are three ways to enter the program:

  • Post-Master’s Superintendent Certificate
    Applicants with a master’s degree can apply to the 31 credit program.

  • Specialist Degree in Educational Administration
    Applicants with a master’s degree can earn the EdS with 45 credits including coursework needed to qualify for state certification as a superintendent.

  • Educational Leadership Program (EdD)
    Applicants with a master’s degree can earn a doctorate and qualify for certification as a superintendent by enrolling in the Educational Leadership Program.
