Choose your specialization.
The program in educational administration offers three specializations to meet the needs of instructional leaders in K-12 and post-secondary schools as well as other organizations featuring educational activities. The specializations are Principalship, Program Administration, and General Administration.
Washington State Certification as a principal or program administrator is available with the master's degree. Certification is also available as a post-master's option, as part of an educational specialist degree or doctoral degree.
Degree Options
Students may earn a master of education (M.Ed.) degree in all specializations (48 to 51 credits, depending on the specialization). A Master of Arts in education (M.A.Ed.) degree requires 3 additional credits, including a graduate project. For information on earning a 45-credit post-master's educational specialist (Ed. Field Experience
All students must complete an internship experience in sites selected cooperatively by the student and major Advisor. Students seeking certification as principals, whether in public or in independent schools, must take three one-credit practica (EDAD 544, 545, & 546) and three two-credit internships (EDAD 564, 565, & 566); students in program administration are required to take three one-credit practica and one two-credit internship.
Applications for admission into the Educational Administration program are accepted each quarter.
