Principal Preparation

A school leadership program to prepare ethical and reflective professionals for service in diverse communities

The Principal Preparation Program develops exceptional school leaders. Designed primarily for part-time students who are working adults, this program attracts aspiring administrators who are passionate about making a difference — who see themselves as leaders of other professionals in pursuit of excellence for students, staff, and schools. Classes are designed to bridge theory and practice. As part of our commitment to social justice, students work with diverse populations and conduct service learning projects in schools.

Coaching Strategies To Transform Your School

This workshop aligns with the new evaluation criteria for principals (TPEP) where you could create a culture, improve instruction, align curriculum, manage resources, engage communities and close the gap. During the workshop, participants will learn:

  • What coaching is and why/when to use it
  • Helping staff to reflect on their practice so that all students learn
  • Conducting difficult conversations such as post observation and evaluation conferences
  • Using the power of deep listening, powerful questioning and effective feedback
  • Creating a culture that promotes ongoing improvement within the school community
  • Developing a plan for using coaching strategies in your ongoing work

Workshop dates: June 26 - 28, 2013 or August 5 - 7, 2013 at Seattle University. Registration fee: $750 ; team of 3 or more $100 off total. details given after registration; includes light breakfast and lunch daily. Learn More.
