Important Academic Policies and Procedure

 Do you have questions about the SU or College of Education’s policies or procedures? If so, start here or feel free to stop by the Dean’s office.  NOTE: the policies and procedures listed below are only a few of the many SU policies and procedures that apply to all Seattle University students.  Please visit the SU Registrar web page that gives a complete list of all SU academic policies that apply to university students.  

SU Professional Conduct: Policy and Appeal Procedures

 The purpose of this policy is to define the appeal policies and processes related to the following professional program decisions that are related to professional conduct/behavior/dispositions: retaining or graduating a student; permitting a student to enter or continue in a practicum, an internship, or student teaching; or recommending a student for a professional certificate.  There is no appeal against a program's decision to put a student on probation for inappropriate statements, conduct, or behavior that is judged by faculty to be contrary to professional standards and expectations.

Student Records Access: Federal Educational Records and Privacy Act (FERPA)  

This document defines the Federal Educational Records & Privacy Act (FERPA) containing guidelines for students (and others) requesting access to or copies of student academic documents or data.  A copy of the FERPA Guidelines is available on an SU Registrar web page where one can view the document via a hotlink, "FERPA Guidelines (76-09)".

SU Academic Grievance (Challenging a Course Grade) Policy and Procedures

This grade grievance policy and procedure defines the policies and outlines the processes that govern in those cases when a student wishes to challenge a final course grade.

 A copy of this academic grading grievance policy and procedure document can be found on an SU Registrar web page where one can access a hotlink named “Academic Grading Grievance (2004-7).”

 The Academic Integrity Policy of the university is available on an SU Registrar web page, where one can access a hotlink named "Academic Integrity (2011-3)."
