Application Process

Please note that the Counseling Program operates under a cohort model that begins in the fall term. Admitted students may choose to take some foundational courses during the summer. We will no longer be admitting students for the winter or spring.

  • Print an application or request an application packet, or apply online here. The deadline for receipt of all application materials is March 20 for fall 2013 entry.
  • Request official transcripts be sent either to the student or directly to Seattle University from every college or university attended. Confirm with each institution their policy for issuing official transcripts. If mailed to the student directly, they must remain in their sealed envelopes.
  •
  • Distribute the recommendation forms. Recommenders may seal and sign the envelopes before returning them to the applicant, or send them directly to Graduate Admissions. When applying online, recommendations can be sent via email instead. Recommendation forms are available in the application packet at http://www.seattleu.edu/graduate-admissions/.
  •
  • Submit the application, recommendations, resume, letter of intent, and transcripts to Graduate Admissions by the deadline.
  •
  • Within 4 weeks after the deadline passes, applicants will be notified by mail or email of their eligibility for a group interview with faculty members and other candidates.
  • Group interviews will take place on April 26th, 2013 for Fall 2013 entry.
  •
  • Admission decisions are sent by letter within 14 days after the group interview.
