Requirements and Qualifications
Our CLP volunteers and CLP staff represent diverse groups. Most are university students, but others are faculty and staff members, alumni, and community members. Our expectations are straightforward. All Children's Literacy Project representatives must:

• A genuine appreciation for all people - an unconditional acceptance for students representing a wide range of cultures and backgrounds.
• Have good communication skills.
• Be able to commit to volunteering at least one hour per week for at least three months. Hours are flexible and chosen by the volunteer.
• Attend a CLP training session prior to the start of tutoring.
In addition, we expect our volunteers and staff to be:
• Friendly, and caring.
• Dependable and flexible.
• Patient and understanding.
• Enthusiastic and encouraging.
