Partner Schools
The Children's Literacy Project serves three elementary schools: Bailey Gatzert, Thurgood Marshall, and T.T. Minor ; two middle schools: Meany and Washington; and three K-8 schools: Madrona, St. George Parish school and St Therese. Among the public school population we serve, over 60% receive free or reduced cost meals, do not live with both parents, and do not meet the state academic standards. Our CLP partner schools also have large populations of English as a Second Language (ESL) students and students qualifying for special education. Although many schools in the area have high-needs populations, we have intentionally limited the number of schools we serve in order to maintain effective communication and supervision of tutors. In this way, we have been able to build strong working relationships with each school’s administration and teachers. We also recognize the need to serve students in our Seattle U neighborhood. All of our partner schools are within walking distance or a short bus ride away from campus.
