Professional Certification for Teachers
The Professional Certification Program provides the course work and support required by the State of Washington for teachers to earn their advanced level of teacher certification, the Professional Certificate. We offer three different options for earning the Professional Certificate: the Graduate--for those teachers who wish to earn a master's degree while earning the Professional Certificate; the Post-Master's--for those teachers who already have a master's degree; and, the Advanced Track--for those teachers who have at least 5 years teaching experience out of state prior to teaching in Washington.
The program provides instruction using a cohort model with small classes. It begins annually in January with the Preasssessment Seminar in which candidates design a Professional Growth Plan. This plan is implemented throughout the program with instruction, support, and assessment from College of Education faculty and school district based educators.
