Alternative Certification
Seattle University does not offer an alternative route to certification. However, the College of Education's Master in Teaching (MIT) program is designed for the career changer who wants to become a certificated teacher.
For non-certificated teachers with three years of successful teaching experience (e.g., out-of state or private school), it is possible to earn Washington state initial teacher certification through the Curriculum and Instruction Individually Designed Program.
If you have questions about these options, please visit the Master in Teaching program website and Curriculum and Instruction program website. Or, you may contact the MIT program at (206) 296-5759 and the Curriculum and Instruction program at (206) 296-5908.
