Important Resources for Current AEDT Students

  • AEDT Student Handbook
  • AEDT/TESOL Winter Quarter 2013 Newsletter
  • Instructional Design Guide PDF (Restricted access - login with SU ID and password to download): Developed by AEDT faculty, Dr. Bob Hughes and Dr. Carol Weaver, this document provides a basic orientation to the process of designing instruction for adult learners, with an emphasis on lesson planning. This document is used by students during AEDT 510, and AEDT 563.

Advising

Dr. Carol Weaver and Dr. Bob Hughes serve as academic advisors for the Master’s in Adult Education and Training. Newly admitted students are assigned an advisor. If you do not know your advisor, please contact the program office at 206-296-5908.

We encourage you to make an advising appointment before you begin your program and before you register for any classes. Initial advising appointments may be conducted over the telephone or in person at the student’s preference. Students should also make advising appointments to develop a course of study, to confirm Candidacy, and to arrange for the Internship, Graduate Project, and/or Independent Study. Students who wish to make changes in their course of study should also consult with their advisor.

If you are newly admitted and cannot reach an advisor (this happens most often between summer and fall terms), please contact the Associate Dean in the College of Education at 206 296 5760. He/she can help you with scheduling problems and initial registration. We recommend new students enroll in EDUC 501/520, Social Justice in Professional Practice, or EDUC 500, Introduction to Educational Research, as their first course. If you wish to enroll in more than one class your first quarter, we also recommend EDUC 515, Multicultural Perspectives, and/or EDUC 513, Adult Learning. In Fall Quarter, we suggest AEDT 562, Foundations of Adult Education.

Please see Recommended Course Planning Schedules in the AEDT Student Handbook for further guidance on course sequence.
