Dean's Message & College News
The College of Education has a unique place within this community and region. Our 11 graduate programs provide leaders in P-12 education, higher education, business, government, and non-profit organizations. For us, “education” is a comprehensive endeavor that begins in P-12 classrooms and extends to areas like school and community counseling, school administration, higher education student development and adult education. Our graduates are teachers, counselors, school administrators, college deans and presidents, directors of organizations and business people. We began that work over 75 years ago, and this year provides us an opportunity to continue to evolve to meet the growing needs that we prepare our graduates to address.
As you check back to this Web site over this year, you’ll find that our faculty will be announcing new books and articles that are in press. We’ll also let you know about the projects and activities that college faculty are conducting regionally and nationally. We’ll also showcase the projects that our students and graduates develop. The College of Education has a vibrant and constantly evolving impact as we engage with the needs of our region and nation.
As the year progresses, look here, also, for updates on the college. As our search progresses for our new dean, as we search for new faculty members, and as we develop new initiatives, projects and events as a College, you’ll be able to keep up with the latest news by checking here.
Regards,
Bob Hughes, Ed.D.
Interim Dean

Welcome Middle College High School

The Seattle University College of Education is thrilled to have Middle College High School on its campus this year. Middle School High School (MCHS) is an innovative alternative high school for students with great promise who may or may not have been thriving academically in a traditional high school environment. Recently, there was an Open House with Superintendent Banda and President Sundborg S.J. attending and listening to the MCHS students' testimonies. For more information on MCHS, please visit the MCHS's page | Fact Sheet.
