TESOL Senior Instructor Position Description (Three-year Appointment)
The College of Education at Seattle University invites applications for a Senior Instructor position in its Master’s in TESOL program, beginning September 2013. We seek candidates who have a successful record in graduate-level teaching and scholarship, a strong commitment to diversity and capacity to work with diverse populations and capacity to be active in Seattle University's Youth Initiative is desired.
The successful candidate will teach graduate TESOL courses; will advise students, engage in research, and provide service to the department, university, and profession. Candidates should have a record of scholarship related to Multiple Intelligences and language learning, L1-illiterate ESL learners, English as an L3, and multilingualism in ESL consistent with the department, college, and university's mission of educating the whole person and preparing leaders for a just and humane world; and a demonstrated commitment to students from multicultural communities and backgrounds.
Required Qualifications: Earned doctorate in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition, Bilingual Education or a highly related discipline at time of appointment. Demonstrated successful experience in teaching graduate TESOL courses. High level of English proficiency.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in mentoring or working with part-time students of diverse backgrounds, in teaching or working with English language learners worldwide, in developing community partnerships, and in the design and delivery of distance learning.
