Our Mission

The Professional Development and Continuing Education Office serves Washington State, national and international educators in acquiring post-baccalaureate credits, clock hours, and certificate endorsements. These high-quality courses encompass a wide range of subject matter and are designed to equip educators with the tools and resources they need to improve student achievement.

What We Do

We collaborate with individual schools, school districts, educational service districts, agencies and other organizations to provide Seattle University post-baccalaureate credits and clock hours for professional development and continuing education courses.

We also collaborate with agencies and organizations to host professional development and continuing education workshops for educators on the beautiful Seattle University campus.

Contact us at continuinged@seattleu.edu or (206) 296-2147 or review the current list of post-baccalaureate credit or clock hour opportunities.

Who We Are

Our office excels at providing professional and comprehensive customer service with a personal touch. Our staff includes:

SusanEllen Bacon, Ph.D., Associate Dean of Professional Development, Continuing Education & Outreach

Susan received her BA Ed. from Western, her MS in Communicative Disorders from Marquette University and her Ph.D. from Kent State University. She has taught kindergarten, been a public school speech pathologist, in special education administration, taught at the college level and led professional development and continuing education initiatives for 14 school districts and two colleges. Her professional development experience has also found her in front of the room sharing her expertise in listening with school districts all over the country and with numerous Fortune 100 corporations.

Susan has a passion for “listening” (check out the International Listening Association), reading, golfing, playing bridge, enjoying her grandchildren and discovering Seattle with her husband.

Beverley Silver, Program Coordinator

Beverley received her BFA and MA in Education from Washington University in St. Louis. Her professional background is in art education. She is a certified teacher with experience at both the elementary and high school levels and a college art methods instructor. For 15 years she directed educational programs at Bellevue Art Museum. Beverley also serves as coordinator for Educator Career Services in the College of Education.

Beverley considers herself a "semi-native" of Seattle and enjoys good art, good food, good books and good weather.
