Seattle University's Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is beginning a Doctoral Internship program. CAPS will be accepting applications for two part-time, 2-year, non-funded positions in our inaugural 2012-2014 internship class.
The dates of the internship will be September 1, 2012 to August 31, 2014.
Model
Our practitioner/scholar model focuses on a broad generalist training in professional psychology with a specialization in college mental health issues. Highlights of the program include:
- Individual and couples counseling within a short-term therapeutic framework
- Intensive training in group psychotherapy
- Training in community psychology through outreach and preventative services to the campus community
- Supervision provided by licensed psychologists in accordance with Washington State regulations for internship-level training
Our new internship program is being developed with the intent to apply for APA-accreditation. As such we are developing this counseling and psychological services based internship with rigor, structure, and specific attention to APA's CoA Guidelines and Principles for Accreditation.
Important Dates
New applications will be accepted in the spring of 2014 for the 2014-16 cohort.
*Due to a shift in our training program and limited resources, we will be placing our longstanding practicum program on hiatus.
