Murdock e-Lab - Pigott 328
Room Set-Up Tips for Instructors
Need Help? E-mail asbe-tech@seattleu.edu
Access
The door can be opened with the 5 AA key. It will probably already be open for
classes on most weekdays. Please lock the door when you leave if you are
teaching the last class of the day, or if the room will be unoccupied for more
than 15 minutes.
Lighting
The projector and computer screens are most visible when the two light
switches closest to the door are all the way off - the switches click into the
off position at the bottom. The third switch is for the lights directed at the
whiteboards on the left side of the room. There are also glare guards under the
printer that can be used to shield light on the computer screens for those that
wish to use them.
Smart Panel
The instructor's station is connected to a Smart Panel, similar to what is
used in
other Pigott classrooms. It has On/Off buttons for the projector, and volume controls for the
audio. To change the image that is displayed by the projector, you push the
corresponding button under the Computer, Document Camera, or VCR labels. I would
be happy to go over the equipment in the room with you in person if you like.
There is also an online tutorial on using the Smart Panel at: http://www.seattleu.edu/it/itcs/web/smartpanelstart.htm
Document Camera
The document camera is located in a drawer on the left side of the podium.
The camera and light arms need to be repositioned for use since they are folded
up to fit into the drawer. If you are attempting to use the document camera and
the projector is displaying a black screen, push the "Int/Ext" button
on the control panel for the camera.
Laptop Use
If you want to connect a laptop to the instructor's station, you should
contact me beforehand so I can show you the procedure.
