<<Previous Albers Brief, Summer 2002 The last issue of the Albers Brief highlighted the completion of our strategic plan. Developing a plan, as painful as it might be, is the easy part! Implementation is the key, and we are busy with the implementation phase! We have formed six task forces consisting of 37 faculty and staff who are working in key areas of the plan - undergraduate curriculum, MBA curriculum, faculty evaluation, staff evaluation, program review, and positioning. Several of these groups are on schedule to complete their work by December, while others will take to the end of the year. In addition, our school Teaching and Research Committee, Executive Committee, and advisory boards all have been charged with specific projects related to execution of the plan. And this issue of the Brief describes one action item that is already up and running - the Albers Alumni Board. The board, under the leadership of Marsha Tellesbo, is off to a great start. We are confident that this new group will help us strengthen our ties with alumni in significant ways. Stay tuned, as you will surely be hearing more about them. Enrollments are up 10% in the school from a year ago. Student participation in our Mentor Program is up 100% from a year ago. For the first time, three of the six Sullivan Scholars are Albers students. Our Beta Alpha Psi chapter again received “superior chapter” status and our Beta Gamma Sigma chapter was recently awarded “exemplary chapter” status. You are reading about our new EDGE Program, a new alliance with the Northwest Sustainability Network, and our new Executive-in-Residence - all of these are creating new opportunities for our students. There is a lot happening at Albers and our year is off to a great start. Joseph M. Phillips | ||
