New Executive in Residence Steve Brilling
To address the Albers School's long-standing commitment to helping its students successfully transition into the business world, a new
Executive in Residence position was created.
Steve Brilling, president and principal of Dragonfly Ventures, will serve as the inaugural executive in residence. Mr. Brilling's past
professional history includes serving as the Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Swiss Re America and the Chief Operating
Officer and Chief Information Officer for Sedgwick Re. Mr. Brilling has been involved with Seattle University in the past as a guest speaker as
well as participating in the Albers School Mentor's program.
Mr. Brilling plans to focus on the expansion of Seattle University's current and new relationships with the business community.
"We have identified several companies with which the Albers School already shares strong ties, "said Mr. Brilling, "We hope to target these
companies in terms of creating the ideal academic partnership for both students and businesses to benefit." The businesses benefit from the
energy and the ideas of our students and our students can gain access to the experience of executives.
"It will be a win for everyone."
Why Mr. Brilling accepted this position is due much to his desire to give back to the academic community.
"It is going to be real satisfying for me to build these relationships because I believe in the balance of business and academics and I want to
play a part in creating that balance."
Dean Joe Phillips adds, "The position will promote on-going programs to better align goals and deepen the understanding between the business
community and the Albers School, its faculty and students."
In addition to his executive in residence position, Mr. Brilling will also serve on Albers School's Entrepreneurship Center Advisory Board.
