Areas of Expertise - Employment History:

Jan has more than twenty years of executive international experience in the field of management and technology. The technology focus has been in computer software, and more recently in wireless telecommunication. His senior level of operating roles focused on building and leading management teams, business development, turn-around situations, start-up companies, strategic planning and development of partnerships.

His first position was with Molnlycke/SCA in Sweden, a consumer products company, where he performed functions in the headquarters spanning from system design to special reports for the board of directors. After immigrating to the USA in 1982, Jan joined the Eli Lily Corporation's Physio Control in Redmond, WA. He then moved to France to become their youngest country manager-to-date.

In 1985, Jan joined Microsoft. During the dramatic growth period for the PC industry, Jan held executive roles and worked in various areas, such as Finance, IT, International, OEM Sales & Marketing, Developer Support, and Corporate Support. This eleven year experience included establishing subsidiaries, creating strategic relationships, managing P&L, managing extensive groups, and totaling revenues in excess of $1B.

In 1996, Jan founded and managed three different companies. One of these firms was a turn-around, which today is a profitable market leading software company, named Her Interactive that develops software for girls.

Three years later, Jan joined GoAhead Software, a developer of service availability software, specifically for telecommunications. As the executive vice president, Jan was responsible for all parts of the company except development.

In 2001, Jan joined InfoSpace as executive CVP for the worldwide wireless data business. Jan led the division through extensive restructuring, which in turn transformed the division's significant loss into a profit.

In 2003, Jan left InfoSpace to develop new businesses, Intersect Group, in the field of environment, including removal of heavy metals in mines and non-proliferation of nuclear materials. He also consulted for various companies. In November 2003 he accepted the CEO role for Marco Polo Wireless, a start-up company focusing on intelligent mid-range RFID applications. Jan is an active founding partner of the Highliner Group, a Corporate Transformation Company based in Kirkland.
