College hires woman to lead Atlanta branch

Suzanne Erickson takes Spring Hill position after previously serving as professor at Seattle University

Spring Hill College has hired a former Seattle University professor to set up and lead the college's proposed branch in Atlanta.

Leaders of the 1,400-student Catholic college in Mobile say they hope to begin new classes in the Atlanta area this fall, although the school is waiting on Georgia state approval for teacher education classes. The school already teaches some classes in Atlanta.

Effective June 2003, Suzanne Erickson will be resigning from our faculty. Suzanne has been a member of our faculty since 1986, and during that time established a reputation as an outstanding instructor and strong advocate for the mission of the university. We thank her for her many contributions to the Albers School and Seattle University over the years, and wish she and her family the very best in their future endeavors. She will be sorely missed by students, colleagues, and alumni.

Suzanne recently published an article in Conversations, the Jesuit higher education magazine, entitled “It’s Noble But is it Possible?” 10/9/03

Associate Professors, Suzanne Erickson and Susan Weihrich, were winners of a Distinguished Research Award, “Financing Growth: Can you afford to Grow” Winner at the Allied Academies Fall 2001 International Conference and will be published in the organization’s journal.

Suzanne Erickson was invited to be a judge in the Mayor's Small Business competition for the second year in a row (2000 and 1999). The competition awarded 11 Small Business Awards to businesses operating in the city of Seattle who had shown excellence in operations, management and financing.
