In order to enable SPEX majors to be successful during their internships, SPEX majors are required to engage in a year-long clinical experience program fall, winter, and spring quarters of their junior year associated with SPEX 312, SPEX 313, SPEX 321, SPEX 322, SPEX 331 NOTE: YOU DO NOT NEED TO REGISTER FOR THE CLINICAL EXPERIENCE, AS IT IS PART OF THE COURSES LISTED ABOVE
The clinical experience includes observing clinical staff, assisting clinical staff, competency testing, and, when authorized, supervised client/patient care.
The clinical experience provides practical application of nutritional analysis, muscle identification and function during exercise, metabolic and biomechanical test data analysis, and exercise prescription across the continuum of movement capabilities, acute and chronic conditions.
SPEX majors will be referred to internships based on their performance in the clinical experience.
