Program Summary

  • Students majoring in Sport and Exercise Science complete a combination of basic and applied science courses to explore how the human body functions during physical activity and exercise. As part of the curriculum students will apply the principles and concepts of biology, chemistry, physics, anatomy, and physiology, biomechanics, exercise physiology, nutrition and exercise psychology to the study of the human body's responses and adaptions to acute and chronic bouts of physical activity and exercise.

    Students who complete this degree often continue their studies at the graduate level in fields related to exercise science or allied health. Students not intending to pursue a graduate education are prepared for employment with community, medical, corporate and athletic fitness programs or in the sales or marketing division of exercise and/or medical equipment manufacturers.

    Steps To Change Your Major

    1. Download and complete the Change of Major, Degree or Specialization form from the Office of the Registrar.  
    2. Log into SU Online, print a “What If” Program Evaluation,"What if" program evaluations are available on the Student Menu of SU Online. When printing a program evaluation, instead of selecting your current degree program, select a different degree program from a drop-down menu.  
    3. Email Rose Kaser to schedule an appointment with Sport and Exercise Science Program Director Dr. Eric Dugan. 
    4. Once your appointment is set please show up on time and remember to bring your "what if" Program Evaluation and the change of major form to Casey 206. 
      We will be glad to assist you with processing the documents.  
    5. When the Change of Major form has been processed you will receive an email notifying you that you have been enrolled as a major in Sport & Exercise Science.
