Le Roux Leadership Award

Arts and Sciences Faculty and Staff are invited to nominate a deserving undergraduate student for the Le Roux Leadership Award. The award recognizes the student who has demonstrated exceptional leadership abilities, shown academic excellence, and performed significant service to the College. The recipients personify in character and action the qualities of a liberal education, which constitute the “spirit” of our College. The award honors the memory of Fr. William Le Roux, S.J., who served as Dean of the College.

Students meeting the following criteria may be nominated:

• Displays satisfactory academic performance (C student or better)
• Has demonstrated exceptional leadership abilities embodying the values and mission of the College
• Personifies in character and action the qualities of a liberal education which constitute the “spirit” of our College

Hickey Award

From You: Nomination of outstanding graduating student in Arts and Sciences
Due Date: April 27
Chairs and Directors are emailed by Assistant Dean Kate Elias the nomination form for the Hickey Award, which is presented to the outstanding graduating student in the College. Selection is based on the student's total contribution to academic life and is made by the department chairs and program directors of the College. Each department may nominate one major who has a Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher; interdisciplinary nominations, i.e. several departments endorsing the same nominee, are encouraged. The email included a list of graduating students in the College which you can use to verify your nominations. The list is sorted by department/program but please use the “Major 2” column as well to ensure you’re including those student pursuing double degrees. Nominations will be accepted in the Dean's Office until 4 pm on April 27.

Department/Program Awards

From You: List of your department’s student award recipients with bios for the program
Due Date: April 27

The student receiving the highest cumulative GPA in each department/program receives a department/program award. If two or more students are within .04 grade points of each other and the department/program faculty consider all worthy of a medal, then all will receive a medal. Please determine the student(s) you wish to select and provide a one-paragraph biography on the student(s). A list of graduating students in the College which you can use to verify your nominations was emailed to you. The list is sorted by department/program but please use the “Major 2” column as well to ensure you’re including those student pursuing double degrees. Your department/program's selection and the student biography are requested by April 27.

Departmental Honors

From You: List of departmental honors students and their project/paper titles.
Due Date: April 27
Students receiving departmental honors are recognized in the ceremony program. Please provide a list of departmental honors students and the title of their directed study project and/or research. Your department’s list is requested by April 27.

Faculty Presenter

 From You: Name of faculty member to present awards for your department.
Due Date: April 27

Please send me the name of a faculty member who would be willing to present your department/program's medal(s). Faculty who are presenting awards will be seated on the stage and are expected to wear academic attire at the ceremony. All faculty and staff are welcome at the ceremony and reception. Your participation would be appreciated by the award recipients and their families and friends. Your department's faculty nominee is requested by April 27.
