Learning Outcomes - Psychology

Seattle University undergraduate Psychology students should be able to:

  • Students will be able to understand there are multiple perspectives on the human, each of which makes a worthwhile contribution to our discipline.
  • Students will be able to read, understand, and evaluate publications in the professional literature including its ethical and technical aspects, and respect for cultural, ethnic, sexual, and gender diversity.
  • Students will be able to apply theoretical material learned in various courses to actual situations in a technically competent manner.
  • Students will be able to successfully construct, carry out, analyze, and present a psychological study following APA guidelines.  
  • Students will develop increased competence in taking on the point of view of another and use this skill productively in their lives and the profession.
  • Students will treat others in accordance with the value of social justice, including ethical and respectful treatment of others, their communities and their institutions.
