You’ll have enough jargon to sift through once you become a law student. Below is a list of common terms and acronyms used within the law school application process:

Law School Admission Test (LSAT)
The entrance exam for all students seeking to go to law school.
Law School Admissions Council (LSAC)
Assists you in assembling your law school applications. Their online website is where you will register to take the LSAT as well as apply to law schools.
Law School Data Assembly Service (LSDAS)
Managed by LSAC, this service actually consolidates your law school applications to be sent to the law schools you apply to.
Credential Assembly Service (CAS)
Streamlines law school admissions by combining all components of your law school application in a report that LSAC sends only once to all the law schools to which you apply.
American Bar Association (ABA)
For the purposes of the pre-law process, ABA provides law school accreditation. You can use their services to research different law schools as well as learn more about the legal field.
Juris Doctor (JD) Degree
The degree you will earn in law school. This degree is required in order to practice law.
Master of Laws (LLM) Degree
An advanced law degree (following a JD) that has global credibility.
