Learning Outcomes - Political Science

Seattle University undergraduate Political Science students should be able to:

• Understand multiple political science perspectives and their relationship to important theoretical debates in the various subfields of Political Science.
• Students should be able to differentiate such debates in the literature from popular political analysis.
• Explain the theoretical dimensions of justice in different areas of Political Science, and the relationship between theoretical issues of justice and empirical and historical research within Political Science.
• Ask a basic Political Science question (power, institutional development, community, justice, and the like) research it,developing sustained analysis in reference to a particular literature or conversation with a thesis and appropriate evidence.
• Understand and identify the different kinds of claims and arguments within political discourse as well as the different forms of reasoning and evidence that support these claims arguments.
