Admission requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. If your bachelor’s degree was from a non-traditional institution where letter grades were not issued, you are required to take the MAT (Miller Analogies Test) or GRE ( Graduate Record Exam)
  • 3.00 GPA in the last 90 quarter/60 semester credits recommended. Strong applicants with a lower GPA are encouraged to apply and may be admitted on a probationary basis.

Send the following documents directly to Graduate Admissions:

  • Completed application for Graduate Admission
  • A non-refundable application fee of $55
  • Official transcripts from the last two years of the baccalaureate degree and any post-baccalaureate course work. A completed undergraduate degree must be verified prior to enrollment. Exceptions to the policy are noted with the degree requirements
  • Students who have earned degrees from institutions issuing non-graded transcripts must submit official results from MAT or GRE
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) exam — Applicants who received most or all of their education in non-English speaking countries may be required by an admissions officer to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language exam
  • Two letters of recommendation from individuals who can speak to your qualifications for this program. Download the Organizational Design and Renewal Recommendation Form (pdf)
  • Three- to five-page double-spaced, typed essay to help determine the fit between your goals and the capabilities of the program. Include the following in your essay:
    • Describe your personal, professional, and educational history. Specifically address how these elements interrelate with your educational and career goals
    • Discuss how you have demonstrated self-direction in previous experiences that would apply to this graduate educational experience
    • Describe your ideas and expectations for the program and how you believe the program will help you attain your goals
    • Explain how your experience, skills and general competencies prepare you for graduate work
    • Discuss your proposed financial plan to support your participation in this graduate program
    • Outline the personal and organizational support you have for undertaking the program at this time
  • Your current resume

What's next?
Your application will be reviewed, a faculty interview scheduled, and eligibility for acceptance determined.

  • A timed writing sample will be scheduled for those who reach the final screening
  • You'll be able to complete the assignment from your computer

 The supplemental fee covers all required reading material, residential costs for off-site sessions and matriculation fees. Tuition and supplemental fees are payable in seven quarterly payments.

Financial aid is available through federal student loan programs. For more information, see Seattle University financial aid.

Seattle University full-time employees are eligible for tuition remission. For OSR 15, a full-time employee's out-of-pocket tuition is $13,867 plus the $4,200 supplemental fee.
