Fine Arts Professor Harmony Arnold designed the costumes, hair, and makeup for the short film By the Salish Sea. By the Salish Sea, directed by Serge Gregory, concerns a young Salish native whose vision quest is disturbed by the arrival of a tall ship.
A free screening of the film will be shown at the Northwest Film Forum on November 18 a 2 p.m. Roger Fernandes, a member of the Lower Elwa Band of S'Klallam Indians, will offer a context for the film using storytelling, background on coastal Salish culture, and comments on how natives respond to non-native depictions of their culture.

Arnold, who received her MFA from the University of Oregon, joined the College of Arts and Sciences faculty in 2006. She teaches costume history and design, designs for college stage productions, and is the faculty advisor for the SU Fashion Club. Her designs have been seen at stage productions throughout the United States and locally at Seattle Repertory Theatre, The Village Theatre, The Washington Ensemble Theatre, On the Boards, Book-It Repertory Theatre, and Theater Simple.
