MEET THE NEW MSAL FACULTY

The MSAL program would like to welcome two new fulltime faculty: Dr. Nicole Melton and Dr. Maylon Hanold.

Dr. Melton comes to us from Texas A & M where she taught Sport Governance, Sport Finance, and also had experience in Sociology of Sport, Diversity in Sport Organizations, and Psychology of Sport and Exercise. Nicole's research interests are in the general area of organizational psychology in sport, specifically in diversity within sport organizations, mainly focused on LGBT populations. She has had multiple publications in journals such as Journal of Sport Management, International Journal of Sport Management, Journal for the Study of Sports and Athletics in Education, and Journal of Homosexuality. She has industry experience working for NIKEGOLF as a Consumer Test Analyst and as a Marketing Consultant for Rice University Soccer Camps. She also golfed professionally on the LPGA tour and has been an assistant golf coach.

Dr. Hanold has been an adjunct with the SU MSAL program for several years and is now joining us as fulltime faculty. She has taught Socio-Cultural Basis of Sport, Research Methods, Developing Leadership in Sport, Sport Organizations - A Systems Perspective, Managing Human Resources in Sport Organizations, Sport Operations and Event Management, among others. Her research interests are in embodiment and leadership, and also in the sub-culture of ultrarunning. She has published in the  Sociology of Sport Journal and Advancing Women in Leadership Journal. Maylon also has a book, World Sports: A Reference Handbook. She has a variety of industry experiences, but most interestingly, she was a U.S. Olympian in Whitewater Slalom in the 1992 Olympics. She has also coached the U.S. Junior National team in Canoe and Kayak.
