John Hoyt founded Pyramid Communications based on his belief that a company could be successful working only for good causes. Pyramid’s mission attracted plenty of people committed to and passionate about those good causes. Eighteen years later, Pyramid is still committed to making the world a better place. Whether the issue is public policy decisions related to Alaska subsistence, childhood obesity, salmon recovery or contract negotiation for labor clients, John thrives on crafting solutions to what sometimes appear to be unsolvable issues. His current and recent clients include KEXP, the Yakama Nation, the Seattle Art Museum, Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation, the Sealaska Corporation and Seattle Public Schools.
John enjoys spending his spare time on and in the water—living in his houseboat, canoeing, swimming and sometimes just floating with a cocktail or two. In his rooftop garden, John spends countless hours tending to his plants, where he gets great satisfaction from pulling weeds and planting things that don’t talk back. He also continues to pretend he is ageless by riding his bike to work every day, playing mediocre squash and tennis and running through the neighborhoods of Seattle.
John has served as a strategic counselor and fundraising consultant for numerous local, state and national initiatives. His extensive background in public affairs and communications offers clients high-level strategic planning and political expertise.
John holds a bachelor's degree in Russian and East European studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
