Officer Nate Shopay was hired by the Seattle Police Department in April 2008. He is currently assigned to South Precinct, 2nd watch, Sam Sector with the call sign 2-Sam-12. His areas of patrol are in the Holly Park/Beacon Hill neighborhood between S Orcas Street and S Othello Street. Prior to this assignment Officer Shopay worked 3rd Watch Lincoln Sector in North Seattle where he patrolled the Lake City area.
Officer Shopay was raised in Miami, Florida and has lived in the Seattle area for the past 5 years. Before becoming a police officer he was working in the real estate business managing and remodeling apartment buildings. He is currently pursuing his Masters in Criminal Justice from Seattle University. The main draw to police work for him was the desire to be part of a community and feel like he was a contributing factor to a successful city. He also enjoys being in a "rolling office" where he is guaranteed to meet someone new each day.
Officer Shopay was highlighted in the South Precinct 'Tweet Along' on Tuesday, November 15 from 11:00 AM-5:00 PM in which he provided the public with a insiders-view of his day. Learn more.
