Learning Outcomes

Building upon the learning objectives of the Seattle University Core Curriculum, INST majors should be able to:

  • Demonstrate a nuanced and comprehensive understanding of global issues through insights and knowledge gained from multiple academic disciplines
  • Develop the analytical, research, problem-solving, and teamwork skills necessary for advancing knowledge in preparation for international studies careers and global citizenship
  • Communicate effectively in both speech and writing across global boundaries, including proficiency at an intermediate level in a language other than one’s native language
  • Acquire lived knowledge of at least one country besides the United States through study abroad
  • Reflect on personal values, ethical commitments, and social positions through engagement with diverse cultures, worldviews, and experiences
