Learning Outcomes - Honors Program

Seattle University undergraduate Honors students should be able to:

  • Analyze primary and secondary source material to identify major themes and issues.
  • Discuss questions and topics raised in seminar in a logical, coherent fashion, distinguishing between those comments which might promote or distract from the line of thought being developed.
  • Listen actively, following discussion attentively and determining direction of thought before speaking
  • Write within the disciplines, recognizing the generic as well as the particular demands of the field in which they are writing.
  • Develop editorial skills which will allow them to be helpful consultants when evaluating the work of others and self-critical in evaluating their own work.
  • Integrate their Honors work both vertically (between quarters) and horizontally (within each quarter) and demonstrate such integration within their oral examinations.
