I. GERMAN MINOR REQUIREMENTS:
- Completion of 35 credits in German: GERM 115-GERM 315. The student must maintain an overall average 2.5 in the minor courses with no grade below "C". "P" and "S" grades are not acceptable.
- Fill out a formal application through the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures.
- Consult with your minor advisor if you have already had advanced language proficiency or your mother tongue is German.
II. COURSES FOR THE GERMAN MINOR OFFERED IN THE GERMAN LANGUAGE & CULTURE PROGRAM:
- GERM 135 Language III (5 credits)
- GERM 215 Language IV (5 credits)
- GERM 225 Language V (5 credits)
- GERM 235 Language VI (5 credits)
- GERM 315 German Culture and Society (5 credits)
- At least two German Study Abroad classes or 10 credits
III. COURSES & CREDITS TAKEN WITH THE SU STUDY ABROAD PROGRAM AND OTHER INSTITUTIONS:
Students who participate in the Seattle University Study Abroad Program at Graz University or in the Berlin FU BEST program can submit their courses to the German Minor; acceptance will be determined.
Up to fifteen (15) credits from the Study Abroad Program can be accepted towards the completion of the German Minor at SU.
A maximum of three (3) courses and no more than nine (15) credits from other institutions may be accepted to the German Minor at SU.
GERMAN AREA STUDIES MAJOR:
In addition to the German Area StudiesMajor, students also have an option to major in International Studies concentrating in Modern Language (German). Please see course offerings in Art, Communication, Geography, History, Philosophy, and Political Science Departments, etc. for possible courses to take in order to fulfill the German Area Studies Major requirements. |
