A MESSAGE TO STUDENTS

In the language course sequence ( i.e., CH115, 125 135, 215, 225, 235, 219, 315), any lower-level courses can not be taken if the student is taking or has taken a higher-level course. No credit will be given upon violation of this policy. Please note: some courses are not offered every semester


CHIN115 FIRST-YEAR CHINESE - First Quarter (5 credits)

        For students who DO NOT SPEAK, READ, AND WRITE CHINESE

This course teaches basic language skills in speaking, reading and writing of modern vernacular Chinese. This course is taught in Mandarin or putonghua, the standard language of China. After completion of the entire series of the First-year Chinese (CHIN115, CHIN125 and CHIN135), a student is expected to have a good commend of basic grammatical construction and common expressions used in daily life.
 

CHIN125 FIRST-YEAR CHINESE - Second Quarter (5 credits)

        Prerequisite: Chinese 115 or equivalent.

        Course description is the same as that of CH115.

CHIN135 FIRST-YEAR CHINESE - Third Quarter (5 credits)

        Prerequisite: Chinese 125 or equivalent.

        Course description is the same as that of CH125.
